Overview

Building Post Industrial Textile Waste System in Indonesia
Circular Fashion Partnership (CFP) Indonesia is the national chapter of the Global Circular Fashion Forum (GCFF), launched in Jakarta on 3 October 2024. It serves as a cross-sectoral initiative—led by Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) with Rantai Tekstil Lestari (RTL)as the national lead and supported by implementation partners Reverse Resources, Closed Loop Fashion, and Circle Economy Foundation, with primary funding from the H&M Foundation and private sector contributions.
Its goal: to build circular textile systems in Indonesia by capturing and recycling post‑industrial textile waste, reducing reliance on virgin materials, and scaling industry collaboration across brands, manufacturers, recyclers, and policymakers.
Why Indonesia?
An Untapped Feedstock for Circular Systems
- Indonesia ranks among the top 10 global textile-producing countries and is the largest exporter of textiles to North America and Europe.
- The country generates approximately 777–874 kilotonnes of recyclable post-industrial textile waste annually—an untapped feedstock for recycling systems.
- Indonesia’s national Circular Economy Roadmap, launched on 3 July 2024, identifies textiles as one of five priority sectors, with strategies focused on infrastructure, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), waste reduction, and recycled material adoption.
