PT. Badjatex

Downstream manufacturer

PT Badjatex, based in Bandung since 1975, is widely recognized as Indonesia’s first sustainable denim and piece-dyed fabric manufacturer, serving both domestic and international markets with over 2.5 million yards of denim and 1.3 million yards of dyed fabric per month—all produced under a vertically integrated facility that covers yarn sourcing, weaving, dyeing, and finishing. The company blends quality standards with a bold sustainability vision for Indonesia’s fashion fabric industry.

Badjatex has taken transformative steps toward sustainable production. Since the early 2000s, it has implemented a wastewater treatment system using ozone-based finishing machines (G2 technology) to minimize water use and eliminate chemical discharge. Between 2019 and 2022, these measures led to an astounding 425 million liters in water savings, nearly 3.95 million kWh in energy reduction, and a 2.2 million tonne CO₂e emissions cut. The company also pioneered sustainable sourcing—utilizing organic cotton (since 2006), recycled cotton (since 2009), and partnering with providers of BCI cotton, recycled polyester, TENCEL, and Refibra fibers.

Badjatex’s vision extends beyond its factory into community engagement and awareness-raising. It educates both employees and local residents via bank-sampah (waste bank) programs on recycling and plastic reduction. The factory also welcomed denim community groups to observe its sustainable operations firsthand—reinforcing its role as a pioneer in Indonesia’s circular fashion movement.
