Politeknik STTT Bandung (Bandung Polytechnic of Textile Technology), operating under Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, recently celebrated its 100th anniversary in April 2022—marking a century of specialized textile education in Indonesia. The institution offers diploma / bachelor's of applied science to postgraduate levels, including the pioneering Master Terapan Rekayasa Tekstil dan Apparel, launched in 2018 to advance innovation in sustainable textiles, functional fibers, smart textiles, and renewable materials. This program emphasizes circularity, green process engineering, and eco-conscious material selection as central pillars of its curriculum.
Politeknik STTT Bandung actively incorporates sustainability into its academic and community outreach. Its Tri Dharma framework guides teaching, research, and community service programs like workshops on recycling textile waste into alternative products for local SMEs. A notable initiative includes an Eco-Printing workshop using tea-factory waste in Ciwidey, and a zero-waste design challenge to support fashion micro-enterprises by turning leftovers into sustainable textile products. The campus also hosts annual webinars and expert panels on sustainable textile innovation, bringing together government, industry, academia, and circular economy practitioners.
