The New Factory (TNF)
The New Factory (TNF)
Small Medium Enterprise
Founded in late 2022 by laid-off garment workers in Bandung, The New Factory (TNF) is a worker-owned cooperative that pioneers textile upcycling through democratic governance and sustainable design. Built on the values of ethical labor, environmental stewardship, and economic resilience, TNF integrates garment workers, designers, and activists to forge a new model for circular fashion in Indonesia.
TNF combats textile waste by recovering and processing discarded garments and post-consumer plastics into upcycled merchandise—like tote bags, laptop sleeves, and corporate gifts—through low-tech recycling, shoddy fiber weaving, and creative design. The cooperative works with brands, NGOs, and universities to scale up operations, targeting up to 100,000 kg of textile waste recycled by 2026. Importantly, their worker-ownership model ensures that value generated is equitably shared by those in production.
