Yogyakarta, 7 August 2025 — Rantai Tekstil Lestari (RTL) and the Indonesian Fashion Design Study Program Association (IMODEA) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the collaboration between higher education and the textile and fashion industry. The signing took place during the launching and inauguration of IMODEA, held at Pura Pakualaman, Yogyakarta.
Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future
The partnership marks a significant milestone in the shared mission of both organizations to accelerate the transition toward circular and sustainable fashion in Indonesia. Through this MoU, RTL and IMODEA will work together to:

IMODEA, as a national association representing fashion design study programs across Indonesia, provides a strategic platform for integrating sustainability into fashion education. RTL, a non-profit association advocating for responsible textile and fashion practices, brings an extensive network of industry, academic, and policy stakeholders into the collaboration.
Speaking at the event, Basrie Kamba, Chair of RTL, highlighted the crucial role of higher education in driving systemic change in the fashion sector. In his keynote speech, he emphasized that campuses are hubs of knowledge, innovation, and talent development, and that embedding sustainability into curricula is key to preparing the next generation of fashion professionals.
