It Starts with the Material Choice

Hollit International, an integrated apparel development and manufacturing hub who has produced for leading global brands, such as Lacoste, Lululemon, and Tentree for over 35 years, understands that the establishment of a circular apparel industry cannot be separated from the advancement of sustainable materials. Global innovations have allowed for the availability of novel lower-impact materials from all categories; synthetic, natural, and man-made cellulosic fiber. However, in order to make a real difference, novel discoveries need to be incorporated into the final garments.

To create more adoption by global brands, accessibility to responsible materials is crucial. This is precisely why Hollit International created ‘Eco Library’, a dedicated corner for sustainable materials at Hollit International’s headquarters in Jakarta. Here, the company displays responsible fabric swatches and trims from around the world. This way, brands can review the feel, quality, and look of responsible materials and find suitable alternatives to conventional materials. As a proud member of Rantai Tekstil Lestari, Hollit International believes that while we have seen that the adoption of preferred materials has significantly grown to 56% among Textile Exchange’s members, there is still room to grow, especially beyond the companies who have committed to integrating sustainability into their practices.
