Islamic Fashion Institute (IFI Bandung)
Islamic Fashion Institute (IFI Bandung)
training center
Founded in 2015 in Bandung by designers Irna Mutiara, Nuniek Mawardi, and Deden Siswanto, IFI is Indonesia’s first Islamic fashion design school aligned with national competency standards and Islamic principles. IFI aims to prepare designers and fashionpreneurs with strong ethical, moral, and creative capabilities, encouraging graduates to uphold sustainability as an expression of Islamic values and environmental responsibility.
IFI embeds sustainability through hands-on educational practices and a zero-waste mindset. In 2018, Batch‑4 graduates launched their zero-waste graduation collection “Notre Voyage”, creating full looks from 5 meters of black fabric with no scraps leftover. Students also participate in global modest fashion exchanges, such as hosting New Zealand students for co-design workshops focused on sustainable modest wear, cultural heritage, and community-based fashion systems. More recently, IFI represented Indonesia at the Kverts FD Fashion Show in Kuala Lumpur (2024)—showcasing aspirational designs grounded in fashion circularity
