On Tuesday, 20 May 2025, Rantai Tekstil Lestari (RTL) joined the Training of Trainers on Responsible Manufacturing for Circular Fashion, hosted by Circle Economy and Politeknik STTT Bandung. This program is part of the Circular Fashion Partnership Indonesia, an initiative led by the Global Fashion Agenda to accelerate the shift toward a circular fashion system.
Capacity Building Effort for Textile Circularity
The program gathered a dynamic mix of participants — 10 expert speakers, 51 attendees, and 27 students and junior academic staff — representing brands involved in CFP Indonesia, manufacturers from various tiers, national lead RTL, and project implementation partners Reverse Resources (RR) and Closed Loop Fashion (CLF).
The Training of Trainers event aimed to build local capacity by equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to deliver circular fashion training within their own organizations and networks. Sessions covered core principles of the circular economy, circular design strategies focusing on product longevity and recyclability, and practical guidance on textile waste handling, sorting techniques, and recycling technologies. The combination of theoretical frameworks and hands-on learning was tailored to the realities of the Indonesian textile industry, ensuring relevance and applicability.

How Policy Supporting Circular Transition
Representing RTL, Rizal Tanzil delivered a presentation on the regulatory framework for circularity and sustainability in Indonesia’s textile industry. The session outlined national policies supporting responsible manufacturing, their alignment with global sustainability goals, and the real-world challenges of enforcement. It also presented case studies showing how regulations can drive waste reduction, improve transparency, and encourage circular design approaches in the textile value chain.
“Regulations are not just rules on paper — they are catalysts for change. When well-designed and enforced, they can guide our industry toward practices that are both economically viable and environmentally responsible"
Rizal Tanzil, RTL Board Member
Through active discussions, problem-solving activities, and knowledge sharing, the event fostered a collaborative environment that will help expand a growing network of trained facilitators. This milestone in CFP Indonesia’s journey reflects the shared commitment of stakeholders to embed circular economy principles into the country’s textile sector.
RTL is proud to contribute to this movement, reinforcing its mission to unite industry leaders, policymakers, and civil society in creating a responsible, sustainable, and circular textile and apparel industry in Indonesia.
